NACE Leadership Summit-Chicago

Jennifer Schafer, owner of Alpha One Publishing, LLC, dba Premier Bride Magazine, was present at the National Association of Catering Executives leadership summit in Chicago, IL January 2009.  As recruitment director of the local Houston Chapter, Jennifer Schafer strives to bring value and education to it's members by attending the national summits.  In Chicago, the local Houston chapter was well represented, bringing 6 members of various board position to learn how they could better their local and national presence.

Items worth noting:

1. Development and role playing of 60 second 'elevator speech' learning how to overcome membership objections and engage the entire national organization on membership retention and recruitment.
2. NACE Jeapordy.  An engaging way to learn more about chapter and national by-laws, NACE history and CPCE exam questions.
3. Program Planning team exercises:  various chapters were given two sample scenarios to plan out from start to finish.  At the end we had 12-24 new innovative programs to share.
4. Idea Board.  A great way to offer up ideas for all the chapters and implement that nationally on the websites.
