NACE Experience 2011: Reno - Lake Tahoe Recap

It wasn't hard to convince the Houston Chapter of NACE that leaders from our area needed to cool off!  With a Houston heat index in the triple digits, a chance to rekindle passion for leadership, culinary training and catching up with friends was a welcome break.

The Reno - Tahoe chapter of NACE, the National Association of Catering Executives, has been planning the national conference for a year now.   Each year, the local chapters of NACE from all over the country ascend on a chosen city to see the latest trends in special events, food presentation, inspiring key note speakers and leadership training.  Award wining food, awe inspiring event planners and event designers, chefs and catering executives are presented with industry awards, elevating their status among their peers and love of special events.

Our own Texas chapters seize every opportunity to present the best of the best.  Chapter meetings are held each month and offer a variety of speakers and educational opportunities for local catering executives and event professionals.  This year, The Dallas Chapter (DFW) came away with top awards.  The Houston Chapter was presented three top awards: Student Member of the Year went to Krystal Peay of Elegant Beginnings, Inc., Best On Premise Catered Event of the Year went to Kat Creech of Enjoy Events and Best Catered Wedding of the Year to Kat Creech of Enjoy Events.

The foundation of NACE contributes scholorships to the next generation of catering executives each year.  This year, Brittany Talavera, the president of the Houston Student Chapter of NACE was a blessed recipient of awards from the foundation.  Students from all over the country apply and only a few receive monetary gifts.  We are proud of all our Texas Chapters.  Congrats and keep cooking!
