A few years ago, my sister had a Christmas themed wedding. I thought it would be a good idea to share with you a few ways you can pull off an elegant Holiday wedding of your own.
- THE INVITATIONS: Set the tone for your Holiday or Winter themed event by sending out holiday inspired save the dates, followed by an elegant wedding invitation. Play up the holiday red and green, gold, silver and even blue by using them in your paper invites. Add wording that is inspired by the holidays as well. "Five Golden Rings", "Silver Bells" and "White Christmas" are all lyrical songs that can be transformed into the perfect holiday wedding message. If you are going for more of a general Winter Wedding, perhaps Winter Wonderland could be involved.
- WEDDING ATTIRE: Just because you are getting married in December, doesn't mean you have to wear a Red Dress. Your white wedding gown can still be a hit with a few wintery details. For instance, faux or real fur around the hem or shoulders, winter cape and muff or even tiny red accents on your gown are more than enough to pull off your Christmas or Winter themed wedding.
- HOLIDAY DECOR: My sister followed the traditional Christmas style decorations by using four large Christmas trees to flank the isles, two on each side. The trees were surrounded by wicker reindeer and traditional poinsettias in a variety of colors. Although it was a Christmas themed wedding, her decor wasnot all the red and green colors that you would expect. Instead, she used silver and gold as her accent colors. From linens to centerpieces, you can achieve a spectacular impact using lights, fabrics and more.
- HOLIDAY WEDDING FAVORS: Keep the theme going each year with favors that reflect your winter wedding. Handing out snowflake ornaments as gifts for your guests it a great way to end the evening. You can also hand make this item if you happen to be creative. If not, don't fret, many online favor companies offer a variety of items.
- HOLIDAY WEDDING CAKE: You don't have to go overboard on the holiday style cake. Your traditional wedding cake designs can be pulled by Santa and his reindeer, for instance. You can also place festive shatterproof ornaments in between each tier and use a fun holiday star as your topper. Other options are to have your cake designer sculpt a gorgeous cake out of edible sugars and fondants.
